Today I am going to be giving you 6 top tips for losing weight over the summer!
Tip #1 Get A Great Workout
Make sure you have a great workout planned that you’re actually going to do so if you don’t have a great workout plan please go ahead and check out my Get Fit program. They are workouts you can do anywhere in the world…learn more HERE.
Make sure you have a workout ready to go ahead of time. I also recommend that you do your workout in the morning. It is going to be cooler earlier in the day. If you really must work out at night make sure it’s in the cooler time like around dusk.
Tip #2 Drink Up!
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate make sure you’re drinking a ton of water.
You can flavor your water if you’d like with some:
- lemon
- lime
- citrus fruits
- oranges
- frozen strawberries
- cucumbers
Add anything that will help you drink water (that is in a healthy manner. Don’t be mixing it with soda).
Tip #3 Sneak in More Water
Another way to get some more water into your body is by eating vegetables and fruits. They have a higher water concentration so they’re going to keep you a little bit more hydrated. You still need to drink your water but definitely you can have
- watermelon
- strawberries
- celery
- zucchini
- squash
- grapefruit
- pears
Fruits and vegetable that have a higher concentration of water is going to help keep you hydrated.
Tip #4 Tone It Down
Depending on where you live, it can get really hot in the summer. If you are working out outside or even if you are working out inside (you may not have the best air conditioner or you don’t want to drop it down real low on those really hot days)…I want you to take it a little bit easier. Go for a walk (again during the cooler times of the day) either early morning or at dust. You can do other things too.
Tone down your workouts on really hot summer days.
You can do:
- Yoga
- Pilates
- stretches
- walk in the mall
Do any kind of a lower level activity just to keep you moving. Save those intense to hard workouts for on the days a little bit cooler.
Tip #5 Really Important Tip
When you’re eating naturally and intuitively, you need to stop when you’re comfortably full. Make sure you are listening to your hunger and satiety signals because that is going help you regulate your body weight very easily.
Tip #6 Step Outside
Get outside and do something that you’re not used to doing (or things that you think you would like to do but aren’t really sure you can do it). Shape It Up’s motto is get fit, be fierce and have no limits so that “have no limits” it could be anything.
Go step out of your comfort zone.
Go:
- take a surfing class
- walk in a park that you’ve never been to (but make sure you take somebody with you).
- do zip-lining
- play paddle ball on the beach
- play Frisbee
- fly a kite
- rollerblading
There’s so many different activities and you might not think they will help progress you in weight loss. You can lift weights walk, run, use elliptical or a spin class but you don’t always have to do that. Do something you enjoy. Take a step out of your comfort zone see if you like it.
Pick something and and just go for it! I mean that’s the whole point of life. You want to make sure that you’re enjoying the things that you want to do.
Those are my top tips for losing weight over the summer and I would love to hear from you if you decide to do that last one where you take a step out of your comfort zone. Tell me what you did.
