TIP # 3 Overindulge in Alcohol

Alcohol is not your friend when it comes to losing weight. Overindulging in alcohol is perhaps the biggest contributor to weight gain during the holiday season.

Alcohol has 7 calories per gram…Fat caries the most calories per gram having 9 and carbohydrates and protein have 4 calories per gram.

Plus, alcohol will slow down your metabolism which makes burning all the food you just ate nearly impossible.  

Add a fruit juice or carbonated beverage to your drink and you’re sure to pack on some serious pounds.

When to add alcohol back in

My suggestion with clients is to lose the weight without the alcohol. Then when you are at your goal size add alcohol back and see how you tolerate it and if you start to gain weight.

There are checks and balances in this world (sorry I didn’t make the rule book).

Ask yourself why you want to overindulge in alcohol?

Do you feel like you are missing out on something?

Do you like the person you become when you drink?

Do you want the alcohol more than the weight loss?

Right now is the most common time for women to stop working on losing weight.  

Why bother it’s the holidays and all the food…and alcohol!

But what would it be like to stick to your goal all through the holidays?

What would you do different?
