Easy Weight Loss Tips for the Summer
Today I am talking about easy weight loss tips for the summer!
Summer can be a challenging time of year. BBQ’s, beach time, those lazy days of summer…BUT you can still keep working on your fitness goals and still enjoy your summer fun time!
Tip #1 Watch Your Portion Sizes
- Watch your portion sizes when you are eating.
- Cut your portion size in half and see how you feel.
- If you are hungry a little bit later get a small snack. If not just wait until you do start getting hungry (stomach growling, etc).
- Just watching your portion sizes alone will help you keep that weight loss off for the summer.
Tip #2 Eat A Lighter Dinner
In the summertime, a lot of times we don’t want that heavy comfort food that we have in the winter like soups and meatloaf . Try to keep your dinner nice and light. Think fresh foods, light foods that aren’t going to be heavy and laden down in your stomach.
Great options are:
- Grilled fish
- Grilled chicken
Tips #3 Salads For Summer
Now don’t get me wrong because I like salads but it’s not like I eat salads every day… As a matter of fact, I do NOT eat salads every day. However, in the summer is a perfect time to have salads. There are so many different salad recipes out there that are different and unique and some have fruit and nuts and all kinds of things. Take advantage of the different types of salads and incorporate a salad into your day.
Tip #4 Get Your Vitamin D
Please be careful going outside if you are fair …like I’m very fair and will burn very easily so make sure you check with your physician before going outside without sunscreen on. But we do need vitamin D and the best way to get vitamin D is through the sun. Go out for 10 to 15 minutes (use your discretion) without sunscreen or just apply it and then go outside (don’t wait the 15 minutes for to set in). Get outside… get some vitamin D and recharge.
Tip #5 Drink Smoothies
Another easy weight loss tip for the summer is to drink smoothies!
I love smoothies! They are the perfect thing to have during summer because it’s hot. They are frothy and yummy and cold and it’s like having a milkshake but not as many calories and not as much fat and all that good stuff and more protein. Definitely get some smoothies into your meal plans. Check out some of my favorite smoothie recipes and add them into your meal plan as well.
