What exactly is the Shape It Up (SIU) Boot Camp?

Shape It Up’s South Jersey boot camp is a like having your own Personal Trainer for a fraction of the cost! Personal training gets results and that is why SIU Boot Camps are based on personal training principles.  We coach you on  your technique (so you aren’t wasting your time and energy on wasted exercises).  We assess your fitness level and push you to where you need to be to get the most out of boot camp.  We educate you on healthy eating and how to enjoy your new healthy lifestyle.  We empower you to be the best you that you can be!  Boot Camp is a fun filled, calorie burning fitness program for busy women and me who are looking to improve their health and wellness. Our camp provides instruction on fitness and nutrition, with lots of motivation and fun!  SIU Boot Camp is led by Shape It Up Fitness Professionals.

What can I expect to do during camp?

We do something different ever day to keep your muscles confused and prevent you from getting board. Boot Camp consists of  calisthenics, walking/running, body weight exercises, yoga and Pilates- a little bit of everything!  Dumbbells and exercise bands are also used.  The goal is to get you moving, elevate your heart rate and build lean muscle so your body burns twice as much fat. Do not worry – you will not get “bulky”. Muscle is more compact and smaller than fat. Also, it’s much more shapely. Reducing fat and adding lean muscle will make you smaller, tighter and firmer…your dress size will go down, not up!

What if I’m not in very good shape?

We use “progressive programming” at Shape It Up. That means each person is assessed to determine their personal level of fitness. If you’re not in very good shape, we’ll start you slow (there will be others in the same boat, so you won’t be left behind). You’ll be amazed at what you are able to accomplish in a short amount of time. We will SAFELY challenge you – never more so than you can handle.

Just know that you are welcome at Shape It Up’s Boot Camp regardless of your level of fitness, and you will not feel out of place, even if you think of yourself now as being totally out of shape. You are not alone. Help is here, both from us (your trainers) and the friendly, caring support you will receive from the other campers. We work as a team, inspiring and being inspired, and everybody wins!

Where is the location we will meet?

Outdoors: We meet at Chestnut Branch Park (you will receive full details once enrolled) unless otherwise noted. Please check the camp details that you register for as they may be different then the above).

What types of exercises and activities are included in the program?

We do a little bit of everything.  From resistance training to body weight training, from Pilates and yoga to cardio activities.  You will get a full body workout every single time to help boost that metabolism and become a fat-burning machine.

The bottom line is that you can do it all, and with our “progressive programming” – you can start at a pace that’s comfortable for you, and increase your intensity under our supervision and instruction, safely and measurably, quicker than you can imagine. That’s how you get results!

How often will we meet for Boot Camp?

Boot Camp meets 3 times per week. (*For full details, see your camp you are registering for).

Boot Camp will last for one full hour, including warm-up and cool-down. There are bathrooms at our boot camp locations.  All that we ask is that you arrive on time and ready to go. Boot Camp starts and ends promptly at the scheduled times.

What should I bring with me to Boot Camp?

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

Other things to bring: Your own exercise mat , a small set of hand weights (5 or 8 pounds is sufficient unless you are very advanced), exercise band and running shoes. Most of these items can be purchased at Shape It Up Fitness.

What sort of results can I expect to achieve at Boot Camp?

bc-faq-2You get out what you put in!  If you are bringing it 100% each time at class and are following the meal guidelines you could see anywhere from 4-8lbs disappear in one month.  I have some clients who have lost 20lbs in 6 weeks.  Reap what you sow ;-)

How much does Shape It Up’s Boot Camp cost?

SIU Boot Camps are private training in a group setting.  Private training gets results but most people cannot afford the one-on-one training.  Private training sessions can start at $60 and go up from there.  If you compare that to SIU Boot Camps, you are getting a bargain!

What if I just want to try the camp before I commit to full registration?

You are certainly welcome to do that. We offer a “try-before-you-buy” option so you can take a Trial class. I hope you can see we make this very fair for anyone to try before they buy, and all we ask is that you show up and give it a go!

Will the exercises I do at Boot Camp make me sore?

It’s completely normal to feel some soreness for the first few days of camp. You are moving and using muscles in ways you probably have not for some time, maybe ever. We make sure to warm you up properly, cool you down right, and stretch, stretch, stretch. And that alleviates much of the soreness, but still, some soreness is normal. And frankly, the mild soreness lets you know you’re doing great work! We offer a great shake that will help with muscle soreness.  I highly recommend ordering this before you start boot camp that way you can start using it the first day of camp.  For more info email me at Nicole@shapeitupfitness.com

 Do you offer discounts or specials?

From time-to-time we will offer specials or discounts off our programs and products. These “special offers” are time sensitive and not extended beyond the date stated. What if I already belong to a gym or health club?

That is great that you have taken initiative to work on your fitness goals.  But … I have to ask…what have you really accomplished with your membership?  DO you go regularly (minimum 3 times per week)? Have you seen any physical results?…You can continue your gym membership and use it on non-boot camp days OR see if you can freeze your membership (SIU only offers boot camps at certain times during the year).

What types of people get the most benefit from Shape It Up Boot Camp?

bc-faq-3The people who get the best results are not categorized so much by body type, age, fitness level or demographics. They are categorized by attitude. If you come to camp ready, willing and able to take instruction, inspire and be inspired, push yourself a little beyond your normal “comfort zone” and have fun in a supportive environment designed to really bring out the best in you, then you can expect phenomenal results. Like everything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. But one of the great benefits of camp is that you are led by knowledgeable, expert fitness trainers who understand what you need and how to give it to you, how to motivate you and how to hold you accountable so that results come fast!
